The Constitutional Court of Kazakhstan refused a Russian citizen to act as the founder of a public association.
According to the Kazakh publication ArbatMedia, a Russian woman tried to register a public association in Astana, created on the initiative of citizens of Kazakhstan and foreigners (the orientation of the association is not indicated). She was refused registration, and she applied to The Constitutional Court, considering the refusal a violation of their rights.
In turn, the court refused to accept the appeal to the proceedings, explaining that such restrictions are established by law and do not contradict the Constitution. The court also recalled that the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, ratified by Kazakhstan, allows such restrictions, provided that they correspond to a "democratic society."
