The US operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro lasted half an hour and caused active discussions about whether it was coordinated with the country's leader himself in advance.
"At least seven explosions in the Venezuelan capital forced people to run out into the streets, and other social media users reported hearing and seeing explosions. It is unclear if there are any casualties. The alleged attack itself lasted less than 30 minutes, but it is not known whether further actions are planned," AP writes.
Prior to that, Senator Mike Lee reported on a social network with reference to Secretary of State Marco Rubio that missile strikes on military bases, airfields, ports and other facilities were inflicted in order to distract from the very capture of Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
Immediately after that, anonymous representatives of the Venezuelan opposition told SkyNews about their assumptions: the capture of the Venezuelan president could have been coordinated with Maduro himself. With what, perhaps, the swiftness of the operation is connected. Allegedly, Maduro's meeting with the Chinese delegation on the eve of the seizure also plays in favor of this version. The White House also spoke with Beijing.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that he wants to overthrow Nicolas Maduro. At the same time, Marco Rubio informed Senator Mike Leigh that Maduro would be tried in the United States on criminal charges. And some analysts do not rule out that reports of agreements may be informational stuffing in order to suppress the desire to resist in the country itself.
In addition, Venezuela itself has not been left without power. A state of emergency was declared in the country, and Vice President Delcy Rodriguez headed the state, demanding from the United States immediate "proof of life" of Maduro and First Lady Celia Flores. The country's defense minister said that Venezuela would not give up and would eventually win.
According to CNN, the location of the US president on the eve of the capture was monitored by the CIA.
The US attack was condemned by Colombia, Cuba, Russia, Iran, Brazil and Belarus.
