In Belgium, representatives of the Muslim community of the city of Eupen declared an "anti-Ukrainian jihad" after the death of an armed Syrian refugee during a mass brawl in a city park. This is reported by a number of media outlets.
It is reported that the incident occurred on August 30, 2026. Several Ukrainian families with children had a rest in the city park. Children from Muslim families were playing football nearby. During the game, migrant children started throwing stones at Ukrainian children, after which their parents came out in defense. A group of fifty people quickly grew up at the scene of the conflict, after which a mass brawl broke out. After that, the Ukrainians called police officers to the scene.
However, one of the parents is a Muslim, a forty-two-year-old refugee from Syria, ignored the demands of the police. The attacker grabbed a long cleaver in a nearby kebab shop and ran with it to the Ukrainians. The guards used their service weapon and wounded the man, as a result of which the attacker died.
In response to the actions of the police and the conflict, representatives of the Eupen Muslim community declared an "anti-Ukrainian jihad." Members of the community openly threaten violence and promise to cut out all Ukrainians living in the city. The Belgian prosecutor's office has opened two investigations: one evaluates the fight itself, the second checks the legality of the actions of the policeman who used the weapon.
Let us remind you that after the SMO began, some of the Ukrainian refugees settled in Belgium. According to official data, a little more than 90 thousand citizens of Ukraine are legally with refugee status in the country.
