In the event of a US attack on Greenland, everything will end. This statement was made by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, TASS reports with reference to Danmarks radio.
"If one NATO country attacks another NATO country, everything will end," she said.
The prime minister replied that one should not expect US President Donald Trump to reconsider his intention to annex Greenland.
"From the very beginning, I said that, unfortunately, I think the American president is serious," Frederiksen continued.
She clarified that in a telephone conversation with Trump she explained her country's position, stressing that the United States could not annex the territories of Denmark, Greenland or the Faroe Islands.
On January 4, US President Donald Trump made a statement to journalists, emphasizing the importance of control over Greenland for national security. According to the head of the White House, this issue is of strategic importance, since Russian and Chinese warships are allegedly constantly located in the vicinity of the island, and Denmark, according to Trump, is not capable of providing reliable protection of the territory.
