The United States has announced the beginning of a new era of confrontation between superpowers. This was stated by US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, speaking to shipbuilders at a shipyard in Virginia.
"We are in a new era of confrontation between superpowers," said Hegseth, quoted by RIA Novosti.
The United States wants good relations with China and the rest of the world, but "remains ready," the Pentagon chief added.
He also commented on the renaming of the department from the Ministry of Defense to the Ministry of War. "Not because we are looking for war, but because in order to ensure peace, you must be ready to contain the war and, if necessary, win it decisively,— Hegseth explained.
As reported by EADaily, in its foreign-language accounts on the social network X, the US State Department published a post "Don't play games with President Trump" in several languages, including Russian.
The US State Department also declared the Western Hemisphere a zone of Washington's interests.
