The US claims to Greenland make NATO's existence meaningless. This was stated to journalists by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk before departing for a meeting of European leaders in Paris.
"No NATO member can threaten or attack another member of the alliance, otherwise NATO would lose its meaning," he said.
According to him, "Denmark, of course, can count on the solidarity of the whole of Europe, I have no doubt about it."
"Washington should understand that any attempt to undermine the foundations of NATO will not be understood by any European country," Tusk said.
Recall, on January 4, US President Donald Trump said that the United States needed control over Greenland for national security reasons. At the same time, during his first term, he offered to buy Greenland, and in March 2025 he expressed confidence in its annexation, threatening Copenhagen with trade duties in case of refusal.
