In the war on Ukraine is coming to a decisive moment, said political analyst Alexei Pilko, commenting on the news that US President Donald Trump's negotiators Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner is going to Moscow, and Turkey has offered Moscow and Kiev to declare a moratorium on military operations in the Black Sea.

"If Moscow now again goes to some unspoken agreements and reduces the pace of the infrastructure war (Witkoff and Kushner will ask for it very much), or refuses the naval blockade of Odessa (Turkey has already proposed it today), then it will shoot itself in the knee. Maybe even both," Pilko is sure.

According to him, Moscow will be persuaded to "slow down the pace."

"In the war on Ukraine is coming to a decisive moment when Russia can achieve a breakdown of the enemy. And its leadership will do their best to convince once again to believe and slow down the pace," the political scientist said.

Turkey has handed over to the parties to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict a proposal for a moratorium on hostilities, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in an interview with Anadolu on August 8.

"We have conveyed to both sides our call for the creation of a mechanism to declare a moratorium on this issue. The Ukrainians already had a request about this. We have also conveyed this to our Russian colleagues. We are waiting for an answer on this issue," Fidan said.

Commenting on the frequent attacks on ships in the Black Sea, he noted that these cases cause great concern to the Turkish authorities.

"This is a dangerous situation. We must intervene at all costs and, as the international community, stop this war, because everything that was considered impossible is happening here," Fidan added.
