The fire started in the industrial zone of the city of Kirishi in the Leningrad region as a result of a drone attack, Governor Alexander Drozdenko said. A large Kinef refinery is located in the Kirishi industrial zone.
"As a result of the UAV attack, a fire was recorded in the industrial zone of the city of Kirishi, emergency services are working on the spot. Combat work continues," he writes.
In total, 42 drones were shot down over the territory of the Leningrad region.
Earlier on the night of August 30, Drozdenko reported that 30 drones were shot down in the Leningrad region. Before that, at night, he also wrote about the interception of five drones. He announced the unmanned attack mode in the region at 02:06 Moscow time.
The fire at the Kinef refinery occurred in early May after the attack. Then Drozdenko called the refinery the main target of the attack. The full name of the plant is Kirishinefteorgsintez, it is part of the structure of Surgutneftegaz PJSC.
