DPRK Defense Minister But Gwan Chol was removed from his post, his position will be taken by Kim Song-gi, who previously held the post of chief of the Main Political Directorate of the Korean People's Army, the Korean Central Telegraph Agency (KCNA) reports.
The personnel decision was made during the second meeting of the Central Military Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea of the ninth convocation. He was visited by the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un.
"The Central Military Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea made the following decisions... but Kwang Chol, the Minister of Defense of the DPRK, was relieved of his post… Kim Song—gi, head of the Main Political Directorate of the Korean People's Army, has been appointed Minister of Defense of the DPRK," the agency said in a statement.
According to KCNA, No Kwang Chol was transferred to the post of first deputy head of the Military Industry Department of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
