Germany sees no reason to strengthen Chancellor Friedrich Merz's security measures. This was stated by Deputy press Secretary of the German government Sebastian Hille.
So he commented on the statement of the deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev in an interview with TASS about the abduction of Merz.
"We condemn such threats in the strongest terms," Hille said, quoted by Tagesspiegel.
According to him, the government sees no reason to strengthen security measures to protect the chancellor, especially since Merz is "reliably protected" and its security personnel "are among the best in the world."
Recall, in an interview with TASS the day before, Medvedev said that "the kidnapping of the same neo-Nazi Mertz could be an excellent plot twist in this carnival series," commenting on the US seizure of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
"There is little that can surprise. There is some realism in such a scenario. He just has something to be persecuted for, even in Germany. Therefore, it will not be a pity. Moreover, burghers suffer for nothing," Medvedev stressed.
