The level of gas reserves in underground storage facilities (UGS) in Europe has dropped below 60%. This was reported in the Russian Gazprom.
"According to Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), as of January 4, the occupancy of European UGS facilities is 59.9%. Last winter, such a level was recorded in the third decade of January, " the report says.
It is noted that in the underground storages of the Netherlands, stocks dropped to 46.1%, Germany — to 54.1%, France — to 55.7%. In total, since the beginning of the selection season, 23.6 billion cubic meters of gas have already been raised from Europe's UGS, or almost half of the volume pumped in preparation for winter.
Recall that after 2022, the EU officially announced its intention to completely abandon Russian gas. However, in reality, this could not be done. At the same time, the purchase of alternative "blue fuel" turned out to be extremely expensive for EU countries, which is one of the reasons for the low occupancy of European UGS facilities.
