The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a Greek tanker near Novorossiysk after loading at the CPC terminal. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.
The ship was attacked on Sunday near the terminal, the sources said. According to them, although the CPC mainly loads Kazakh oil, the current batch was of Russian origin.
"A Greek oil tanker was attacked after loading Russian cargo... a Suezmax—class Skiros capable of holding about 1 million barrels of oil was attacked after loading at the terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium near Novorossiysk, those familiar with the situation said," the publication says.
This is the first strike on a ship entering the CPC terminal after an almost three-week break, the agency reports.
In early August, Ukraine agreed to refrain from attacks on the CPC infrastructure and non-Russian vessels heading to the sea terminal, provided that these vessels do not fall under Ukrainian sanctions and do not carry Russian cargo, an American official said. Russian oil usually accounts for 5 to 10% of CPC exports.
A company from Athens, registered on Equasis as managing Skiros, said that no one was injured in the incident, there was no pollution.
Earlier it was reported that US Vice President Jay Dee Vance personally asked the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to stop strikes on tankers entering Russian ports, as well as on the facilities of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
