The strike on the military facility in Poltava was so effective because the Russian Iskander missiles cannot be shot down. This was stated in an interview with the Judging Freedom YouTube channel by ex-Pentagon adviser Colonel Douglas McGregor.
"These missiles are flying at a speed of 4,500 miles per hour. No, there is no way you can shoot down these hypersonic missiles during flight," said McGregor.
He also noted that the city of Poltava has symbolic significance on many levels, the current message of Russia, according to the colonel, is: "We are coming for you, now it's over."
"Poltava was the site of a truly titanic battle (the Battle of Poltava in 1709. — Ed.), in which Russia and Sweden fought for supremacy in In Eastern and Northeastern Europe... Secondly, Hitler's advanced command post was also located here during World War II… So the city has a symbolic meaning on many levels, and the real message (impact. — Ed.) is like this: "We are coming for you, now it's over," says McGregor, quoted by RIA Novosti.
The West has yet to face the manifestation of this warning in the future, the expert stressed.
As EADaily reported, during the missile strike of the Russian Armed Forces on the Institute of Communications in Poltava on September 3, there were 700 military personnel there, said People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Mariana Bezuglaya.
After the strike, the State Bureau of Investigation (GBR) opened a case on possible negligent attitude to military service, said the deputy chairman of the parliamentary defense committee. Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mariana Bezuglaya.
