"Overall, the year has been positive. We will reach figures of 5.4−5.5 million inbound tourist trips, that is, there is an increase compared to the previous year," Nikita Kondratiev, director of the Department of Multilateral Economic cooperation and special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, told RIA Novosti.
According to him, 30% are guests from China.
"The countries of the Persian Gulf are in second place. India, Turkey, European countries are also in the top, first of all, Germany," said Nikita Kondratiev, adding that in 2026 Russia aims to reach 6.5 million foreign tourists.
Vladimir Putin has set a task to increase the number of tourist visits from abroad to 16 million by 2030.
It is known that 12.1 million foreign tourists visited Russia in 2021.
