Specialists of the Russian company Mechanical Protection Systems have developed and produced a unique network for protection against Darwin-Z drones.
This was told to RIA Novosti by the Director General of the organization Dmitry Dorofeev. According to him, the product is able to independently restore its integrity after the damage caused.
The head explained that this effect was achieved thanks to the unique design of the network cells, which have the shape of the Latin letter Z.
"When the drone is blown up on the canvas, the structure does not break into junk, but "slides" — neighboring cells shift and partially tighten the resulting hole. This reduces the net breakdown area by up to 50 percent, and it becomes much more difficult to use the same corridor for a flight," Dorofeev informed.
He added that the net is made of polypropylene and has a weight of 40 grams per square meter. Special mounting and power elements are built around the perimeter and in key areas.
It is they who, when stretched, create veins that serve as supporting cables. The new system is supplied as a single web, which can simply be fixed on the supports.
The publication recalled that until now, Russian engineering units have used conventional fishing nets to protect against FPV drones. However, they tear quickly, and their installation is time-consuming.
As reported by EADaily, earlier the developer LazerBuzz reported on the tests of a laser that should shoot down drones. The laser beam was able to destroy the drone, located at a distance of 1.5 kilometers. We are talking about an airplane-type drone.
