Employees of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Bonn must leave Germany by September 18. This was announced by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev.
"The Consulate General in Bonn will be closed by September 18... the staff of the Consulate General will have to leave Germany before that time," he said.
According to him, employees of the Russian House of Science and Culture, who work there and represent Rossotrudnichestvo, "must leave the country within seven days." At the same time, he noted that Russian diplomats "are not even given the opportunity to organize a precinct election commission for the elections of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on the site of the Consulate General."
At the same time, today it became known that Berlin's actions provoked a response in the Russian Foreign Ministry. The Charge d'affaires of the Federal Republic of Germany, Bernd Finke, was summoned to the department. The German diplomat stayed in the Russian Foreign Ministry for about 50 minutes.
Recall, the Leipzig police reported on August 5 that an employee of the city's airport found a UAV with explosives in the air cargo security zone. On September 2, Berlin officially blamed Russia for the incident, but did not provide any evidence for its accusations. The Russian Embassy in Germany called the incident a hastily concocted provocation, noting that it "serves exclusively the goals of Kiev and the militaristic wing of the European political class." Later, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadefuhl said that Germany would close the Russian Consulate General in Bonn and terminate the agreement concerning the activities of the Russian House in Berlin.
