After studying the wreckage of the Russian Zircon hypersonic missile that fell on the territory of Ukraine, local "experts" could not detect obvious traces of a ramjet engine (RAMJET). According to the American portal TWZ, referring to the data of the Ukrainian side, this fact caused obvious bewilderment and gave rise to a new wave of discussions about the real device of one of the most classified types of Russian weapons.

The design of the rocket can include two solid-fuel stages, and the RAMJET in it either does not exist at all, or is made according to a non-standard scheme. For example, on solid fuel, which is extremely rare. In addition, the attention of Ukrainian specialists was attracted by an unusual alloy used in the case, and chips marked by American manufacturers were allegedly found in the electronic components.

The Americans note that if Zircon is really devoid of the usual RAMJET, then it is more correct to refer it not to cruise missiles, but to quasi—ballistic missiles. But even in this case, the ammunition remains one of the most highly effective, developing hypersonic speed, having the ability to maneuver on the marching section and accelerate on the final segment of the trajectory.

Ukraine, the authors of TWZ write, is already experiencing an acute shortage of systems to combat conventional targets, and the appearance of these weapons only aggravates an already difficult situation. The Baltic countries also have difficulties with Russian missiles, not far from the shores of which the Russian Navy's Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov is now cruising, armed not only with Zircons, but also with cruise Calibers.
