Kiev may be recognized as a frontline city for the sake of reducing payments and helping residents. This was stated by Ukrainian political scientist Igor Reiterovich.
According to him, talks about the introduction of the status of the frontline territory can be a test of the reaction of society.
"It is beneficial for someone to raise this topic and say that Kiev will be a frontline city. Because it greatly reduces the ability of people to count on at least some kind of assistance and compensation here and now," said the political scientist, quoted by UNIAN.
The expert explained that the status of the frontline territory provides for other rules of support. In particular, some programs like "Yoselya" and "eVidnovlenya" may not work in the same format.
He also does not exclude that in this way they are trying to reduce the burden on the authorities and save money, instead of solving the problems of the people of Kiev.
As reported by EADaily, Kiev and the Kiev region may receive the status of a frontline zone as early as September. This was stated by the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Gorbenko, UNIAN reported.
According to Gorbenko, the government has been working on this for about two weeks. The relevant resolution has been prepared since the beginning of massive strikes on food warehouses near Kiev.
