In Armenia, they decided to abandon fluorography, hospitals and polyclinics will no longer do it, the equipment will be decommissioned. On February 13, this decision was made at a meeting of the Armenian government.
According to the conclusion of the Ministry of Health, fluorographic examination does not meet the requirements of modern medicine, since it has a low diagnostic effectiveness. It is noted that in practice, in some diseases, additional X-ray or other radiation diagnostic studies are necessary.
The Ministry of Health also noted that the background radiation level of fluorographs is higher than that of new digital X-rays and MRI machines. In addition, fluorographs, which are used in medical institutions of Armenia, are mainly manufactured in the USSR. This complicates the process of servicing these devices — the enterprises that produced them no longer work.
