At today's meeting in Bishkek, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin focused on economic and trade issues. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.

"We mainly talked about bilateral relations, about the entire volume of trade and economic cooperation, which, of course, cannot be discussed publicly for obvious reasons. Well, we briefly exchanged views on the main issues on the international agenda," Peskov said. — The Ukrainian crisis was discussed by refrain, tangentially, in fact, there was no discussion."

At the same time, Peskov assessed the negotiations very well, saying that they were held "in a friendly atmosphere."

As EADaily reported, although Gazprom and Chinese CNPC have fixed their intentions for the construction of the Power of Siberia—2 gas pipeline in a legally binding memorandum, there are still no clear deadlines for the implementation of the project. The main stumbling blocks remain China's desire to reduce the cost of purchased gas as much as possible (to the domestic level), the volume of future purchases and the optimal route of the gas pipeline.
