The largest transfer of Russian oil bypassing EU: half reached China

The largest one-time transfer of Russian oil from the Baltic ports bypassing Europe is coming to an end. The tankers passed through the Northern Sea Route, but half of them have reached China itself so far.

As EADaily reported, last week a flotilla of eight 250-meter tankers with Russian oil passed through the Northern Sea Route, which became the largest one-time transfer of Russian oil bypassing Europe, where seizures of ships with energy resources from Russia. Tankers can carry almost a million tons of oil, which is now worth more than half a billion dollars on the market.

However, only half of the ships reached China itself. According to AIS, Ligovsky Prospekt and Primavera are already approaching their destination ports — they are located miles from Rizhao and Tianjin. At the same time, "Viktor Bakaev" and "Liteyny Prospekt" stood near the territorial waters of the PRC in the Yellow Sea.

But the rest of the tankers lingered off the coast of Russia. So, Jagger and Mirabelle are located near the territorial waters of the country in the Far East near the border with North Korea. And "Dynasty" and "Vostochny Prospect" approached the Find.

It is possible that the vessels have received support and bunkering and are awaiting further commands from the charterer.

All eight vessels carry oil from Baltic ports and are under sanctions. At the same time, the tankers belong to Sovcomflot. The largest one-time transfer of Russian oil to China along the Northern Sea Route occurred after the intensification of the seizure of sanctioned vessels off the coasts of EU countries that are trying to reduce Russia's oil export revenues.

The Northern Sea Route is the shortest route to China — with a continuous transition, the travel time can be halved. However, so far the navigation season on the Arctic route is quite short and lasts, in fact, four months for non—ice-class vessels - from July to October.
