The authorities of the Kiev regime refuse to take away a large number of bodies of dead Ukrainian servicemen, said Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik.
Commenting on the situation to RIA Novosti, the diplomat said that the Russian side had offered to hold a humanitarian pause so that Ukrainian representatives could pick up the bodies of the dead, of which there were "a lot."
"But Kiev accepts such humanitarian proposals from our side only as a last resort. Because they see a political background here," the ambassador said.
He explained that the Ukrainian leadership hides information about real losses from the population and in every possible way evades payments to the families of the deceased servicemen, as this is "colossal money."
Miroshnik said that the procedure for these compensations is deliberately complicated by the authorities with a large number of additional conditions and bureaucratic delays.
As EADaily reported, in mid-August, Russia and Ukraine exchanged the bodies of the dead military. Ukraine received 261 bodies, Russia - 24.
