Friedrich Merz promised that Germany would respond to Russia's hybrid threats in the coming days. The German Chancellor stated this in a summer interview with ARD TV channel, DW reports❶❷.
In this way, Merz reacted to the incident with a drone with explosives at Leipzig airport on the night of August 5.
According to the Chancellor, the investigation is almost complete, the government has "largely" come to an agreement on how to respond, and in the coming days "will make it clear".
When asked if Germany is even capable of giving an adequate answer if it turns out that Russia is behind the attack, Merz suggested waiting.
"Let's wait and see what it means to respond adequately," he said, stressing that although the response will follow from Germany, it will be coordinated with the European Union and NATO partners and "will not come as a surprise to them."
As reported by EADaily, Friedrich Merz is preparing to blame Russia for the incident with the UAV at Leipzig airport. This was reported by Politico. It is noted that we can talk about such measures as tightening sanctions and strengthening military assistance to Kiev.
