US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on the House of Representatives to pass a bill on "hellish sanctions" against Russia.

Rubio said that it is "extremely useful" for the US president to have at his disposal the levers of pressure provided for in the bill in order to "promptly use them as circumstances change," including for the imposition of duties against other countries.

Rubio also noted that Democrats in the House of Representatives, despite statements of support for Ukraine, are "in no hurry" to vote in support of the bill.

On September 1, it became known that the passage of the bill on new sanctions against Russia and its partners, approved by the US Senate before the summer holidays, stalled in The House of Representatives, which returned to work after the summer holidays. The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, Mike Johnson, did not include the law on "hellish sanctions" in the list of priority bills to be considered this week, saying there was no reason to hurry with it. Lawmakers fear that the proposed measures will not achieve their goals, but will hit the US economy, and the document itself will give the president broad powers for new trade wars.

Who received an overwhelming majority of votes on August 7 in The US Senate bill provides for the possibility of imposing personal sanctions against Russian executives, leading business representatives, state-owned enterprises and foreign companies cooperating with the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation. It provides for the introduction of duties of up to 100% on goods from the five largest importing countries of Russian oil and gas, in particular on goods from China and India, and up to 500% on all imports from Russia to the USA. The document changes the previous mechanism of American sanctions pressure: instead of direct restrictions against Russian producers and traders, it is intended primarily to influence buyers of Russian energy carriers.
