The infamous American aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln docked in Thailand's largest port of Laem-Chabang. 5000 sailors and marines disembarked, and brothels in Pattaya, which is located 25 km from the port, is preparing for an influx of customers, reports Bild.

For the crew, who spent 250 days at sea, going ashore is "a real relief," the German tabloid points out. At the end of 2025, Abraham Lincoln went to the Pacific Ocean on a planned trip. However, due to the war with Iran, the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier was transferred to the Middle East and remained there much longer than planned.

American publications reported extreme psychological stress and supply disruptions on board, faulty toilets and alleged suicide attempts. The US Navy acknowledged the difficult conditions, but stressed that the crew received sufficient support. Now the soldiers are waiting for Pattaya — a famous Thai resort on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand. The city is known worldwide for its nightlife and has been considered a symbol of sex tourism in Southeast Asia for decades.

Even during the Vietnam War, starting in the mid-1960s, thousands of American soldiers came here on vacation. An international entertainment center has grown out of a former fishing village in just a few years. Local businesses are now pinning great hopes on the visit of the Americans. Hotels, bars, restaurants and shops expect significant revenue growth. According to local authorities, the sailors will spend in Pattaya is a few days away before the aircraft carrier continues on its way to the USA.

The city administration and the Pattaya police are preparing: American soldiers should disembark in small groups to make it easier to control the process; they have also been banned from certain leisure activities, such as the use of marijuana (which in Thailand is now partially allowed) and risky water sports.
