The modernized operational-tactical missile system of the Russian Defense Ministry, which has received the unofficial designation Iskander-1000 in open sources, is increasingly viewed by military experts as a significant trump card in the strategic dialogue with the North Atlantic Alliance. The Telegram channel "Military Chronicle" also shared its assessments on this issue.
According to available data, during the recent strikes on facilities in In Kiev, the product has covered a distance of over 500 km, although the design range can reach a thousand kilometers. Observers do not exclude that the launch for a limited distance was a trial, only to check the basic characteristics of the system.
If the tests are recognized as successful, the next stage will probably be devoted to launching at full range, which will allow hitting targets up to the western borders of Ukraine.
Of particular interest is the hypothetical deployment of advanced installations in the Kaliningrad region. This step is capable of significantly expanding the area of responsibility of the complex, putting a significant part of the territory of NATO member states under the scope. That is, according to the authors of the channel, if we are really talking about working out a new version of Iskander, Moscow gets not only a tool for deep strikes, but also an additional lever of influence in a long-term confrontation with the countries of the bloc.
