The Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, said in an interview with Fox Business that he had discussed with President Donald Trump the regret that Vladimir Zelensky expressed because of the scandal in the White House, is considering a statement from Kiev's apologies, and the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis is real.
"I spoke with President Trump about this two hours ago, when Zelensky's statement came out. And I said, Mr. President, that's exactly what he needed to say. He, in fact, apologized to the president for what happened in the Oval Office. And he is ready to return to negotiations, it is very wise of him to accept the deal," Johnson said.
According to him, the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis is possible as soon as Trump gets Zelensky to participate in the negotiations, and then the Russian leadership will join them.
"We will resolve the situation," Johnson promised.
Earlier, Zelensky expressed annoyance that his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House went "wrong," and also expressed readiness for negotiations under the "strong leadership" of the head of the White House to achieve peace. At the same time, he did not apologize, but declared his readiness to start negotiations as soon as possible to resolve the conflict.
Zelensky's apology was preceded by reports that the United States was suspending all military assistance to Ukraine until the American president decides that Kiev is demonstrating commitment to peace talks.
