The IOC will hold a conversation with the Ukrainian skeletonist Vladislav Geraskevich so that he does not wear a "memory helmet" to the competition. This was stated to Sky News by the representative of the International Olympic Committee Mark Adams.

"Adams stated that the rules were designed in such a way that the competitions were dedicated to the athlete and the sport, and not to political gestures or expression of opinion," the TV channel reports.

It is noted that Geraskevich wants to be allowed to demonstrate the helmet in the media zone* and at press conferences, as well as in the mixed zone and any other places except the playing field and during official races.

"We will contact this athlete and repeat that he has plenty of opportunities to express his grief. It's not about the message itself, it's about the place where they are trying to convey this message. We are in the background. It was the athletes who told us over and over again: 130 conflicts are taking place in the world, we cannot allow them to affect the competition," said Adams, quoted by TASS.

Adams stressed that the organization "does not want to disqualify the Ukrainian and wants him to compete."

Earlier, the skeletonist said that he considers the use of a helmet, on which, according to Geraskevich, the dead Ukrainian athletes are depicted, to be a matter of principle and is not going to give it up.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appealed to the IOC with a request to allow Geraskevich to compete at the Olympics in the "memory helmet".

As EADaily reported, the Ukrainian skeletonist spat on the IOC ban and will go to the start in the "memory helmet".
