In the Colombian department of Santander, 23-year-old Karen Juliet Ojeda Rodriguez was detained, which the local press has already managed to nickname La Muñeca (Doll). This girl with the appearance of a beauty from Instagram* is called by the police a link between the street mafia and hired killers.
The video of the Doll's detention instantly spread across social networks: a young girl in a crop top, long hair, neat makeup, special forces soldiers next to her and a signature that this is one of the most dangerous sicarias (hired killers) of Colombia.
According to investigators, the Doll entered the criminal world at the age of 18, and by 23 she had become something of a director of liquidations in the Los de la M gang (M People), who controlled extortion, drug trafficking and showdowns over territories in Barrancaberme and Piedekueste. According to law enforcement officers, it was through her that orders for the elimination of people passed, she coordinated the goals, place and time, and then transferred the tasks to sicarios (hired killers).
The most resonant episode is connected with the murder of her ex-boyfriend Davey Jesus Garcia Palomino, known by the nickname Orejas (Big-eared). According to the police, there was a conflict between them over money and common schemes, and the Doll turned this quarrel into a death trap. She wrote to him, offering to meet for a conversation about money in a rural area near Piedequesta, away from cameras and patrols, and the former himself came to the place appointed by her.
When the car with the Big-Eared stopped, two sicarios on a motorcycle drove up to it and opened fire almost point-blank. The man was seriously injured and died later in the hospital, and the key evidence was the messages in his phone, where there was correspondence with Karen./Juliet and the fact that he was on his way to meet her is recorded.
Prosecutors claim that for organizing this operation, the Doll and her friend received about 4 million pesos, that is, less than a thousand dollars — not much by the standards of the international drug business, but for a provincial gang this is the standard rate for directing and escorting a murder.
Together with Karen/Juliet was detained by her friend Paula Valentina Gioia Rua, known as Gorda Sicaria (Fat Killer). According to investigators, she was the link between the Doll and the direct shooters: she kept in touch with sicarios, discussed the amounts, after which the Doll chose a place, lured the victim and gave the final approved. After the motorcyclists worked out the goal, the girlfriend could return to the point to make sure that the job was done.
The contrast between the cute face and the accusations made the story viral: TikTok, Instagram* and the tabloids turned Karen/Juliet turns into an almost serial image — a heroine in the spirit of a drug store, which seems to be supposed to be photographed with coffee, but instead, according to the police, distributes who and where will not get home today.
According to the police, the Doll is now being held as accused of organizing the murder of a former partner and suspected of several more episodes of sicariato (contract killings) and extortion.
The police in the latest comments carefully cool the media heat: part of what is told about her in social networks remains versions of the investigation and journalistic reconstructions, and not a fact established by the court. The verdict in the case of the dear director of terrible liquidations has not yet been pronounced.
