The Japanese should know the place: it's time for Putin to demonstrate Russian power — McGovern

It's time for Vladimir Putin to put the Japanese in their place. This was stated by ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern on the YouTube channel of Professor Glenn Diesen of the University of Southeastern Norway.

This is how he reacted to the statement of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi about the visit of the Russian president to the Kuril Islands.

"It is time for Putin to demonstrate Russian power in countries like almost Nazi, judging by what Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, Japan, says. It is necessary to defiantly, but carefully, clarify the situation so that the Japanese know their place," he said.

Tokyo should not hope for US help in trying to intimidate Russia, since Washington puts its own interests first, the expert added.

As reported by EADaily, the trip of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the island of Iturup (Japan considers the southern part of the Kuril Islands to be its "ancestral territory") complicated the "medium- and long-term restoration of relations" between Moscow and Tokyo, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi told reporters, expressing a strong protest.

Recall, the Kuril Islands were, are and will be Russian land, said Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, commenting on the statement by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in connection with the arrival of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the island of Iturup.
