The Soviet intercontinental ballistic missile R-36M, known in the West as "Satan", was capable of wiping entire enemy regions off the face of the earth. According to RIA Novosti columnist Andrei Kots, this weapon received a split warhead with ten warheads of 400 kilotons each. And this is only one equipment option.
For comparison, Koc cited the following data. The power of the bomb that destroyed Hiroshima is about 15 kilotons.
Thus, one block of R-36M is equivalent to 25 such explosions, and a full salvo of one rocket is 250 Hiroshima at the same time. A total of 190 such ICBMs were manufactured, which created a tremendous deterrence potential.
The designers equipped the missile with false targets capable of imitating warheads and misleading American missile defense radars. This made the P-36M virtually invulnerable to interception and guaranteed unacceptable damage even in the event of a retaliatory strike.
EADaily previously also informed that the heir of "Satan" turned out to be head and shoulders above the weapons of other countries.
