APU tried to destroy an oil depot in Engels, Saratov region, where aviation fuel is stored for strategic bombers stationed at the Engels-2 airfield, with the help of a massive attack by Beaver drones.
"The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Saratov region with Beaver drones capable of flying up to 1000 km. They were carrying more than 100 kg of explosives," the Shot telegram channel reported.
According to him, each "Beaver" carried about 10 kg of explosives.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that at night, on January 8, 11 UAVs were destroyed over the territory of the Saratov region. According to unconfirmed reports, there were up to 40 of them.
EADaily has already informed that the governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, announced the introduction of an emergency mode in Engels, where, according to him, because of a massive attack, an "industrial enterprise". Information appeared on the social network that the AFU's target was the oil depot of the Kristall plant of the Federal Reserve, where fuel for the Engels-2 airfield is stored.
The decision to introduce an emergency mode was made taking into account the increase in the fire area. As Busargin explained, the fire is so strong that two employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations died while extinguishing it. Another was hospitalized.
Busargin also noted that Rospotrebnadzor specialists take air samples in the area of the fire and so far "no excess of pollutants has been recorded."
