The UK Parliament has voted against investigating mass cases of child rape in the country by gangs, Sky News reports.
The Telegraph newspaper previously reported on calls for a public inquiry into the long-term systematic sexual exploitation of children in the UK. According to the newspaper, the "plight" of thousands of young girls has been hushed up for two decades.
"MPs voted against a new national investigation into gangs raping children… The proposal of the Tories to launch a new national investigation into the scandal with gangs of rapists was rejected by MPs amid criticism of "political games," the report says.
According to the TV channel, 364 deputies rejected the initiative to investigate, only 111 deputies spoke for it. As the TV channel notes, the vote was mostly symbolic.
Earlier, the Telegraph reported that at least a thousand girls were raped by gangs in the city of Telford, while similar crimes were uncovered in other cities across the UK. As the newspaper notes, neither the police chiefs nor the prosecutors were brought to justice because of the inability to stop it.
The problem drew the attention of Elon Musk, who in the social network X emphasized that in the UK, in order to bring charges of committing serious crimes, such as rape, the police require the approval of the Crown Prosecution Service, and during the period when gang rapes occurred, its head was the current British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Musk believes that the real reason this case is still not investigated is that it would entail accusations against Starmer himself. According to the Telegraph, under Starmer's leadership, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the case against the gang of rapists, despite irrefutable evidence of their guilt.
