The Polish city of Poznan is buying German trams with 30 years of experience. And the Gazeta edition was able to find out the price of this road antique. The deal is actually a big one.
The Poznan Tram Authority will buy 24 trams of the R1.1 model from the German Stadtwerke Bonn. These are three-section bidirectional models with a length of less than 29 meters in 1994. The price of each of them will depend on its condition, but the maximum amount per unit will be 46,500 euros. That is, the total amount of the transaction may exceed 1.11 million euros. Trams from Bonn will be delivered to Poland in batches during 2025.
"We took advantage of this opportunity and thanks to this we received trams at a price significantly lower than the market price," rejoices Krzysztof Daktiv, the head of the management board of the department.
Thus, the "German old men" will soon replace the "Polish old men." The latter are mostly high-floor, but novelties aged 30 years from Germany were purchased with an eye to progress and are low-floor.
