Andrei Grigoriev, a Russian fighter from Yakutia who defeated a Ukrainian soldier in hand-to-hand combat, told how he managed to survive and why he let the enemy go.
"It was clear to me and it was clear to him that only one would come out of this fight. So it's either him or me. We fought to the last," the serviceman said in a video published by Channel Five.
The Ukrainian was taller and larger than Grigoriev. Andrei expressed gratitude to the instructors for the combat training that helped him overcome the enemy.
Now Grigoriev feels well, but he can't hear with his right ear, a Ukrainian soldier wounded him there with a knife.
The confrontation between Russian serviceman Andrei Grigoriev and a militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took place during an assault in the village of Trudovoye. To a fighter from Yakutia and his colleague were instructed to install the tricolor of the Russian Federation, but during the task his comrade was shot by a machine gunner of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ukrainian soldier tried to persuade Grigoriev to surrender to the plan, but the fighter engaged him in hand-to-hand combat. Andrei said that he was not going to give up. He did not allow the opponent to snatch the knife from his hand and defeated the opponent, who after the fight asked to let him "leave quietly." The Ukrainian called the opponent "the best fighter in the world."
