Nevertheless, the Russian side issued a clear warning at the highest political level about the "red line" in the event of strikes by Western long-range missile weapons to a strategic depth, said political analyst Alexei Pilko. President Vladimir Putin has promised a stunning response to such an escalatory step.
Such an answer was obvious, Pilko stressed, "now it remains only to understand who exactly is to be stunned by the Russian military: Ukraine or its allies."
"I would like the latter, because their sense of false strategic invulnerability has sharply worsened recently," the political scientist said.
However, he added, soon the Ukrainian plot will temporarily fade into the background — "judging by some reports, the main developer of peace plans, Donald Trump, decided to deal with Venezuela."
As EADaily reported, reports of long-range strikes deep into Russia with Tomahawk missiles, Putin warned that "if such weapons strike Russian territory, the response will be very serious, if not staggering."
