In February, Hungary and the United States signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of civil nuclear energy. This agreement testifies to the beginning of the "golden era" in relations between the countries, then US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said at a press conference after the signing.
The agreement is based on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed in November 2025 during Viktor Orban's visit to Washington. According to the signed document, Budapest will purchase American nuclear fuel for the Paks NPP, complementing the Russian one. The cost of deliveries is $ 114 million, the start is in 3-4 years.
