The United States is considering the possibility of curtailing military efforts in the Middle East, said US President Donald Trump.
"We are getting very close to achieving our goals, while at the same time considering reducing large—scale military efforts in the Middle East," he wrote on the Truth Social network.
At the same time, the head of the White House said that his country was not obliged to ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz.
"The Strait of Hormuz should be guarded and patrolled, as necessary, by other countries that use it — the United States does not use it!" the American leader added.
Nevertheless, according to him, Washington is ready to provide assistance in this matter if asked.
The US and Israeli operation against Iran is in its third week. All this time the parties are exchanging blows. The aggravation of the conflict has led to an almost complete cessation of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz — a key route for the supply of oil and LNG from the Persian Gulf countries. After that, energy prices began to break records.
