The new sanctions of the United States are an attempt to put pressure on Russia, no self-respecting country will tolerate this. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"The new US sanctions are an attempt to put pressure on Russia. No self-respecting country ever does anything under pressure. Russia belongs to self—respecting countries," Putin said, quoted by Pool No. 3.
He also commented on the refusal of the American leader Donald Trump from the announced meeting in Budapest, noting that "the Russian-American summit is rather postponed." "It would be a mistake to approach the Budapest summit without preparation," the Russian president explained.
"Now I see statements that the US president has decided to cancel or postpone this meeting, rather to postpone it. Dialogue is always better than confrontation, than some kind of disputes, or even war. Therefore, we have always supported this, the continuation of the dialogue, and now we support it," he said.
According to Putin, both the meeting itself and the venue were proposed by Washington.
He also commented on reports of long-range strikes deep into Russia with Tomahawk missiles.
"This is an attempt at escalation, but if such weapons are attacked on Russian territory, the response will be very serious, if not staggering. Let them think about it," the Russian leader warned.
As reported by EADaily, Kiev is negotiating the supply of long-range weapons with European countries, including those with Tomahawk missiles. This was stated at a meeting of the European Council by the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky.
