Europe should offer Russia a coordinated position voiced by key players. This was stated on the YouTube channel by British political scientist Mark Galeotti.
As such, he has in mind the European trio — France, Germany and the UK.
"Of course, people like the head of the European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, and the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, with their extremely sarcastic comments about Russia, actually excluded themselves from the list of potential candidates for the role of negotiators. The Russians just won't talk to them. They don't take them seriously at all… Therefore, Europe's position should be, if not necessarily unanimous, then at least to some extent agreed and voiced by the main players, which at the moment remain France, Germany and the United Kingdom," Galeotti said, quoted by RIA Novosti.
The political scientist, however, doubts that the current European leaders will have the courage to admit failure.
"But who, after many years of repeating empty mantras about supporting Ukraine, has the courage to turn around and say, 'Actually, if you think about it, it's not in our interests'? Galeotti asked.
As reported by EADaily, the prospects for any mediation on settlement on Ukraine is doubtful, because now it is obvious that everything will be decided on the battlefield. This position was voiced by the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, former Ambassador of the Russian Federation to China Andrey Denisov.
