Trump: Zelensky asked for peace. This is something new

The head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, wants a ceasefire and peace. This was stated by US President-elect Donald Trump in an interview with the New York Post.

"Zelensky wants to make peace… This is something new… He wants a ceasefire… We didn't discuss the details. He thinks the time has come," said Trump, who previously met with Zelensky in Paris.

Earlier, Trump himself called for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations, saying that Vladimir Zelensky and Ukraine "would like to make a deal."

The Kremlin responded to the statement. Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia had read the proposal, but recalled that the terms of the peace talks had previously been announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukraine continues to refuse dialogue. According to Peskov, in order to reach a peaceful trajectory, it is enough for Zelensky to cancel the decree banning negotiations and instruct him to resume dialogue "on the basis of the Istanbul agreements, taking into account the realities taking shape on earth."

As EADaily reported, in June, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian army would cease fire after the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territory of new regions of Russia. In addition, the Russian leader added, Kiev should declare its rejection of intentions to join NATO, conduct demilitarization and denazification, and also accept a neutral, non-aligned and nuclear-free status. Putin also mentioned in this context the lifting of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
