A criminal case is being investigated against the founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov under the article "Assistance to terrorist activities". This was announced today, February 24, almost simultaneously. KP and Rossiyskaya Gazeta, recalling all Durov's "exploits" in recent years.
As stated in the texts, since 2022, the number of crimes committed using the messenger has exceeded 153 thousand, of which 33 thousand are sabotage-terrorist and extremist in nature. The tragedy at Crocus City Hall and the murder of Daria Dugina are mentioned as examples.
"With the use of Telegram, a campaign is planned to send mass propaganda messages and videos to Russians against the policies of the President of the Russian Federation. The goal is to organize a protest vote and attract supporters for mass street actions. Applications are being created that allow analyzing Telegram chats in order to identify hotbeds of tension in the regions, consolidate groups prone to protest activity, translating social discontent into a political channel.
So, according to experts, Telegram has become the main source of dissemination of information that forms threats to the constitutional order of the Russian Federation. The messenger has also become the main platform for the propaganda of suicide, bullying, Columbine, the criminal ideology of AUE [1]], mass murders, LGBT[1]], child pornography, drug sales and fake documents," the authors claim.
As reported by EADaily, the complete blocking of Telegram in Russia is scheduled from April 1. Similar measures are going to be taken at Ukraine, where the authorities accuse the messenger of working for the Russian special services.
