MP: Russia is in direct contact with US military command

Moscow is in direct dialog with the US military command and NATO, the head of the Russian State Duma Defense Committee Vladimir Shamanov has announced on air of the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

“There is a direct dialog with the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Department of Defense. Via our allies, Turkish counterparts, communications are checked and cleared with NATO,” Shamanov said.

“No matter how emotional and threatening Mr. Trump was in his statements, the reaction of UK Prime Minister Theresa May and French President Emmanuel Macron says they are not unanimous and that measures taken have already born initial results.”

At the same time, he said the State Duma Defense Committee is not alarmed by statements on possible strikes on Syria by the United States. The MP called to keep calm about the current situation and said that Russian military, diplomatic and political institutions are working in close contact on a 24-hour basis.

As EADaily reported earlier, several contradicting statements were made by the United States the day before. First, President Donald Trump threatened Russia with missile strikes in Syria, then spoke of stopping the arms race. This all is going on among an anti-Russian hysteria in Western media.
