The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine banned the use of Belarusian and Russian languages at a conference on dialectology. This is reported by local media.
It is reported that the Institute of the Ukrainian Language of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine announced the holding of the international scientific conference "Dialects in synchrony and diachrony", which will be held on October 9-10, 2025 in Kiev. At the same time, the official message of the organizers clearly states that the working languages of the conference will be Ukrainian, other Slavic (except Russian and Belarusian) and English.
"We have a decision of the presidium of our academy that we have no right to cooperate with Russian and Belarusian institutions at all," said Lyudmila Kolesnik, a representative of the organizing committee.
It should be recalled that in 2024 the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine adopted a decision entitled "On the inadmissibility of participation in the preparation of publishing products with scientists affiliated with institutions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus." The document emphasizes the need to terminate any cooperation with scientists associated with Russian or Belarusian scientific institutions, as well as with publications and publishers of these countries. It is also prohibited to co-author, review, membership in editorial boards, scientific, editorial and supervisory boards. The staff of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine should stop all joint publications with representatives of institutions of Russia and Belarus.
