The Azerbaijani defense ministry has confirmed reports that since noon of April 5 the military activities on the line of contact in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone are suspended under an agreement of the two parties.
“The Azerbaijani Armed Forces are strengthening positions in the territories liberated from the invaders,” the ministry said in a statement.
As EADaily reported earlier, on the night of April 2 the situation on the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh worsened dramatically: severe fighting started, after that the parties accused each other of violating the ceasefire. David Babayan, spokesman for the president of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic told EADaily that the parties decided to cease the military action. He stressed that due to understandable reasons the stability of the truce is under question.
“I need to stress that that the truce was announced in a situation similar to the one that was before Azerbaijan started its military aggression on the night of April 2,” he said adding that the Karabakh army has completely restored its positions.
