US President Donald Trump supported the three-day truce announced by Russian leader Vladimir Putin on the occasion of Victory Day. He stated this at a briefing.
Trump called this proposal a great achievement.
"As you know, President Putin has just announced a three-day ceasefire. At first glance, this does not seem like such a significant time, but in fact it is a great achievement if you remember how it all started. After all, the situation used to be completely different: we had a president who hadn't even spoken to Putin for three years. And all this could have been avoided," said Trump, quoted by Pool 3.
Trump also said that at the moment both Kiev and Moscow want the conflict to end.
"I think that Russia, given the current oil prices and their decline… I think we are in a good position to resolve (this conflict). They want to settle it. Ukraine also wants to settle it," said the American president, quoted by Strana.
