US President Donald Trump has threatened China with retaliation for its actions in the trade sphere. He stated this during a conversation with the press on board his plane, answering a question about a potential fair deal with Beijing, TASS reports with reference to the White House press pool.
"You know, I want a fair deal with China, but China has been stealing from us for many years. So maybe we should think about some aspects, you know, about a little retaliation," the American president said.
He also stressed that negotiations with Chinese President Xi Jinping are not planned this week.
Earlier, on April 2, the American leader announced the introduction of customs duties on products from 185 countries and territories in the amount of 10%. For some countries, the US administration has introduced individual tariffs. For China, they amounted to 125%. In total, with the previously introduced 20%, the duties amounted to 145%.
In response, China also raised tariffs on American goods to 125%.
