Since May 6, Germany has been introducing permanent border controls with Poland, Austria and France.
The future head of the German Interior Ministry, Alexander Dobrindt, announced a tightening of migration policy.
"The first decisions will be made after taking office next Wednesday (May 6. — EADaily). Border control will be tightened, and the number of refusals will increase," he said in an interview with Bild.
However, Dobrindt "reassured" that he had no plans to close the borders. In his opinion, such actions are being taken in order to reduce the level of illegal migration. He added that relevant decisions are being prepared both at the national level and at the EU level.
Bild clarifies that in addition to the 11,000 federal police officers already involved in the protection of the German border, it is planned to attract several thousand more employees to strengthen control.
EADaily previously quoted Polish Ambassador to Berlin Jan Tombinski as saying that border control with Germany complicates daily border traffic.
