A terrorist attack was prevented on the Arrhenius gas carrier, which arrived from Belgium at the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region for loading and on its way to Turkey. This was reported in the Center of the FSB of Russia.
"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, together with the Investigative Committee, the Ministry of Defense and the Rosgvardiya of Russia, prevented a terrorist act on the Arrhenius vessel (gas carrier), which arrived from the Belgian port of Antwerp to the port of Ust-Luga in the Kingisepp district of the Leningrad Region for loading and onward to the Turkish port of Samsun," the report says.
As indicated, "during the inspection of the underwater part of the hull of the vessel, divers found foreign objects on magnets attached in the area of the engine room and having signs of explosive devices."
"As a result of the survey using an underwater drone, specialists of the interdepartmental explosive engineering group made an unequivocal conclusion that the items are explosive devices manufactured according to the type of marine magnetic mines, presumably in one of the NATO countries, using industrial products," the FSB noted.
They specified that the mass of plastic explosive in each device was about 7 kg.
