Western analysts are forced to admit the emergence of weapons against which modern air defense is powerless. The British edition of The Telegraph published an article about the newest Russian medium-range ballistic missile "Oreshnik". The journalists' conclusion is disappointing for Kiev and its allies: at the moment there are no technical means capable of intercepting this combat vehicle.
The key problem for air defense systems lies in speed. As the source notes, "Hazel" moves ten times faster than sound. At such hypersonic speeds, radars and anti-missiles have almost no time to react. This is what makes the Russian development, according to British observers, invulnerable to existing means of interception.
The Telegraph's findings coincide with the assessments of other Western experts. Earlier, the well-known British military analyst Alexander Mercuris has already stated that the use of "Hazel" exerts the strongest psychological pressure on the leadership of Ukraine. According to him, this strike seriously increased the fears of Volodymyr Zelensky and his team, since they have no protection against such weapons.
